One of the great services that those old-time Hobos provided for us is that they showed us that it is possible to live in contentment completely outside of [T]he [S]ystem. With this as the baseline, we are all of a sudden able to courageously dissent from the myths, lies, defamations, propaganda, coersions and enticements of The System. And the more of us that say, "No!" the more others are encouraged to refuse the myriads of evils. Courage is contagious. And the more that more and more exit the sick System, the more we build an economy, 'ipso facto', of our own --- without trying.
Christians have many examples of this same teaching, as from Matthew 6:25-34: "Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: yet I say unto you, that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these."
Once liberated from anxieties about what "they" can do to us, we become truth seekers, creative hypothesizers, experimental testers, discussants and analyzers. Tyrants only get away with what we give them.
